ROBAR Companies, Inc in conjunction with Plasma Technologies, LLC and Duralar Technologies Announces Ground-Breaking New Coating Technology:

Duralar® ArmorLube™ Assures New Levels Of Performance And Protection To Firearms

ROBAR Companies, Inc (Phoenix, AZ) is an approved distributor for Plasma Technologies, LLC, a licensed applicator for Duralar Technologies’ new dry lubrication metal finish for the firearms industry, Duralar® ArmorLube™. ArmorLube™ offers many of the same great capabilities as NP3 Plus plating regarding corrosion resistance, abrasion, and low coefficient of friction — with the added benefit of being a matte black finish.

Originally, a Duralar subsidiary developed Armorlube™ for the US Army Research, Development and Engineering Center to increase the capability and reliability of soldier weapon systems. ArmorLube is a unique, advanced, ultra-hard permanent dry lubrication coating. It serves a range of applications, enhancing the capabilities and extending the longevity of products. It is particularly well suited to a broad spectrum of uses in the firearms industry. ArmorLube improves the performance of hammers, trigger assemblies, bolts, bolt carriers, slides, levers, magazines and countless other parts in handguns, shotguns and rifles, including semi-automatic and automatic models.

Duralar’s ArmorLube improves the performance of parts and assemblies involving the repeated sliding of metal against metal. ArmorLube is created from a proprietary carbon-based formula, with the carbon component providing a natural graphitic lubricity and an extremely low coefficient of friction — less than 0.08. This added lubricity significantly increases the parts’ ability to move smoothly and easily with less force.

No liquid lubricants needed

Of special benefit to firearms is the fact ArmorLube gives a clean, dry, permanent lubrication — eliminating the need for oils or greases which can attract and accumulate dust and grit, contributing to fouling and jamming. ArmorLube coating extends the life of parts and their periods of optimum operating performance, reducing the need for frequent disassembly and cleaning. This is a significant breakthrough for hard-use situations like the military, law enforcement, defensive firearms, competition, hunting and more.

ArmorLube also provides exceptional hardness, up to 1500 HV, making it highly wear resistant — making its low-friction performance longer lasting. ArmorLube’s dry lubrication coating is also highly corrosion resistant and chemically inert.

Able to coat interior, exterior and 3D surfaces

Unique for most coatings, ArmorLube can be simultaneously applied to both the inside and outside surfaces of metal parts. This coating is deposited by the Duralar Emperion System using Duralar’s proprietary DualArmor™ process. This bathes metal parts in a dense plasma so all surfaces — interior, exterior and complex 3D shapes — are coated with high uniformity and at a very high rate, without the line-of-sight limitations of spray-type coatings. The high deposition speed also allows ArmorLube coatings to be very thick — up to 15µm, if desired — with most firearm parts coated to 3 to 5 µm so as not to cause tolerance stacking issues.
