By now, anyone who has read the first two installments in this series — “Meet the Robar Team: President LtCol USMC (Ret) Freddie Blish” and “Meet the Robar Team: Gunsmith and Proud American Henry Heng” — knows that the ROBAR crew are, to a man or woman, people of rock solid character and integrity.

The smiths and staff at ROBAR love what they do and it shows. It shows in the amazing work they do both customizing and building firearms. No detail is insignificant; every painstaking step in the smithing process is done purposefully and with great care. People around the nation trust their pistols, rifles and shotguns to the folks at ROBAR for good reason.

Another of the fine, fine ROBAR gunsmiths is Jesse Bollinger.

Jesse is a man of faith who faithfully perfects guns, honing his artistry to the great satisfaction of many a ROBAR customer.

Bollinger has been involved in the shooting community for over two decades. He graduated Cum Laude from Liberty University and is an ordained pastor.

After seminary, Jesse became a certified gunsmith. In addition to working full-time at Robar, Jesse teaches at churches and Christian conferences.

Jesse (L) shows a pistol project to ROBAR friend, Michael Lamb (R), with Freddie looking on.

Jesse took time to answer some questions:

How long have you worked at Robar?

Jesse: Going on 7 years.

What do you like most about working at Robar?

Jesse: Everyone at Robar is like family, and I am very grateful for these relationships.

Where did you go to school for Gunsmithing?

Jesse: American Gunsmithing Institute

What got you into firearms?

Jesse: I’m not sure. I’ve been interested in firearms since I was about 4 years old.

What is your favorite firearm and why?

Jesse: I can’t narrow it down to just one, so here are four in no particular order:

  1. The Luger pistol for its uniqueness and rich historical significance.
  2. The 1911 for its beauty, power and classic appeal.
  3. The Heckler & Kock P7 for its mystique.
  4. The Franchi SPAS 12 shotgun for it’s one of a kind, exotic nature.

What is your favorite firearm finish and why?

Jesse: The jury’s still out on this one, but I am partial to NP3 Plus for its lubricity and corrosion resistance. In fact, my personal defense gun, an H&K P7, is treated with this amazing finish!

What firearm related hobbies do you have?

Jesse: I have taught in a 1911 Law Enforcement Armorers course, teach pistol marksmanship and defensive tactics, and hope to expand these teaching opportunities in the future.

And what else does Jesse do in his spare time?

Some of this (see video below):

I hope you are beginning to see a pattern.

The ROBAR team creates weapons perfected and customized with painstaking care because they are a team that absolutely cares about doing the right thing in the right way.

My grandmother often said, “Anything worth doing is worth doing well.”

Jesse Bollinger, like Leap “Henry” Heng and like Freddie Blish and all the others at ROBAR, believes gunsmithing is worth doing and he does it well. Very well.

Yes, Jesse Bollinger is another integral part in the ROBAR success formula.
